Consultations On National HIV/Aids Policy Begin:
The Namibian government is drafting its first national policy on
HIV/AIDS and hopes to complete it by World AIDS Day on 1
December.
At the behest of the government a draft policy was compiled by
the AIDS law unit of the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC), an NGO,
and discussed last week at a series of workshops with
stakeholders from the legal, social and community sectors.
"The ministry of health and social services leads the process
and the LAC was ...

Don't laugh. Both get a lot of coverage in the press. Mold
isn't a politically sensitive issue but there are a lot of
similarities.
1. Both get into your system without being felt. If you are
living, working or studying in a moldy environment there will be
mold spores floating in the air. Every time you breathe, these
mold spores move through your nose, sinuses and into your lungs.
Each of these spots is moist and warm. Ideal environments for
mold spores to set up housekeeping. From these ...

Hearing aids are expensive and contain some very sensitive circuitry that should be taken great care of. Cleaning your hearing aid on a regular basis helps to ensure that it lasts as long as it possibly can. A dirty hearing aid can also cause ear infections, which is another good reason to clean it properly!
The process of cleaning a hearing aid varies from type to type because different types of hearing aids have different structures and different degrees of delicacy. You should consider ...

Or maybe the right title question could be 'why is US stingy?'
It could be a good debate point. And I have also my share of
viewpoints why US is considered stingy by some ' a United
Nations official, even.
On December 28, 2004, The Washington Times came up with reports
that the UN undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs and
emergency relief coordinator, Jan Egeland suggested that the
United States (US) and other Western nations were being 'stingy'
with relief funds for the Asian ...

Hearing aids and hearing devices may not make your hearing
perfect. But, they can make a big difference in your life by
helping you to hear better.
First thing to know is that there is a law that requires all
caregivers to do a hearing exam on you within 6 months before
you buy hearing aids. You have the right to refuse this testing.
But, you will have to sign a paper in the hearing aid store
asserting that you know the hearing test is recommended. In the
long run, it is better to have the ...

Have you seen pole-vault jump? The jumper carries the pole in both hands at the start of the jump, gathers speed, leaps up in the air, and at a particular moment, upon reaching the top level of the jump, he leaves the pole, to jump all alone to the other side. He is the victor and he no more requires the pole. He has given up dependence on the pole, at the pinnacle of his glory. Stop smoking aids are to be treated in the same fashion. They are there to aid you. They can never be the permanent ...

In recent years, there have been great advances in the
technology of hearing aids. Cochlear implants have become
commonplace in many parts of the world, and digital hearing aids
have eclipsed their analogue counterparts in common usage.
Hearing aids have certainly come a long way, from the days of
ear trumpets. The following is a timeline of key developments in
the advance of hearing aid technology.

Hearing is one of those things we tend to take for granted.
Unless we lose our hearing, it's not something we think about
the mechanics of very often. We put more thought into the
arrangement of our surround sound speakers than our hearing. As
a result, if we develop hearing impairment, we don't take into
account some of the hearing aid options available. Though not
all hearing loss can be treated with hearing aids, the most
common forms of hearing loss typically can be treated.
Hearing aids ...

Let's face it, most people enjoy cardiovascular exercise as much
as a visit to the their oral surgeon - or - spending the weekend
with their in-laws. Most people's idea of the perfect
cardiovascular exercise program is walking from the bedroom to
the bathroom. If you want to decrease your body fat percentage,
get ripped, and have your waist, legs, and rear end look like a
million dollars, there is no substitution for cardio - but it
doesn't have to be boring and a major chore you hate.

The American Hearing Aid Association estimates that 10% of the
U.S. population experiences some form of hearing loss. Most of
us know someone in our families who may be a little hard of
hearing. Hearing loss is especially common in the elderly and in
people who have worked many years in noise polluted
environments. The elderly and those without the means to
purchase expensive hearing aids will likely stick it out and
simply deal with their hearing loss.
If you are considering purchasing a ...

There are many factors that contribute to the possession and use
of walking aids. From childhood, almost all of us have been in a
situation wherein we have needed and relied on walking aids, at
certain times in our lives and during certain periods of time.
Several factors may be due to leg injuries and bone dislocations
that resulted from accidents, sports-related injuries and even
those as simple as sprains. Some people also possess and use
walking aids due to acquiring diseases like ...

Disposable hearing aids are designed for people with mild to
moderate hearing loss. These are often ideal for people who have
only just begun to lose their hearing. Disposable hearing aids
offer the same quality and features as traditional hearing aids
with the possibility to save money in the process.
Disposable hearing aids function like other hearing enhancement
products. They have a small, soft mushroom-like cap that fits
inside of the ear canal. They are usually worn for anywhere

Many people are choosing to convert from the traditional method
of hearing aids to the more innovative method of digital hearing
aids. Studies prove that digital hearing aids provide higher
quality sound than any other form of hearing aid on the market,
producing better listening experiences for the user. In order to
distinguish which form is more effective, you must first fully
understand the concepts of both methods of hearing.
Analogue hearing aids convert sound into electrical ...

For decades, the media has been preaching how fats are
associated with obesity, cancer, arteriosclerosis, and heart
disease. Back in the late 1980's, the U.S. Surgeon General
recommended that Americans decrease their consumption of dietary
fats. Marketing savvy food manufacturers immediately started
coming out with everything from fat free ice cream to fat free
cheese. In place of fat, more carbohydrates were added.
With all of the "fat free" marketing, the general public
believed that since ...

People need hearing aids for a variety of reasons. Perhaps your
hearing is degenerating due to normal aging, or perhaps you have
undergone a serious illness that resulted in moderate hearing
loss. Whatever the reason, if you have mild to moderate hearing
impairment, it is likely that a hearing aid can help to better
your quality of life.

non-programmable. This means that they have one setting that
cannot be changed or altered. With these ...

With today's health conscious consumer, food manufacturers are
well aware that a primary concern of the public is health and
eating healthy foods. Since marketing plays a huge role in
product sales, marketing tactics paint a blurry picture designed
to entice you, not educate you.
In an effort to provide the public with what they want, food
manufacturers use unclear marketing statements like "Reduced
Fat" and "98% Fat Free." Beware of products boasting these types
of claims. Just because a ...
